G3, P5 and the "flying car" X2 could also be seen. We will briefly introduce you to all models
Xpeng, the up-and-coming China brand, is apparently showing at the IAA in Munich his large electric sedan P7. This is not officially confirmed, but the P7 appears on the website of the auto show under the heading "New trends at the IAA Mobility 2021".
The exhibitor directory lists the Dutch branch of Xpeng and the brand also presents its entire electric car portfolio on the website: from the compact SUV G3 including the G3i version to the latest model P5 (the 4.81-meter-long little brother of the P7) to just to the technically interesting upper-class sedan P7. The flying car X2 also appears there.
Xpeng G3: A rival of the Mercedes EQA
The G3 is the first Xpeng model to be launched in Europe: the SUV is already on the market in Norway. With a length of 4.45 meters, it is in the same size class as the Volvo XC40, Mercedes EQA and VW ID.4.

The G3 is always powered by the same 145 kW motor at the front with 300 Nm torque. It gets its electricity from a 66 kWh battery, which should enable 451 kilometers in the WLTP cycle. The equipment includes a 15.6-inch display in portrait format, voice control and the semi-autonomous Xpilot 2.5 driving system and over-the-air updates. In Norway, the Smart and Premium equipment versions are offered, prices start at 358,000 kroner, the equivalent of around 34,000 euros.
Xpeng P7: A competitor to the Mercedes EQS
In Norway you can already order the P7, as can be seen from the manufacturer’s website. The 4.88 meter long car was presented at the Shanghai Motor Show in April 2019 and launched on the domestic market in June 2020.

According to the website, there are four motor-battery versions in China:
Power / torque | Battery / range | Base price after funding (Furnishing) |
|
RWD Standard Range | 196 kW / 390 Nm | 60 kWh / 480 km NEDC | 229,900 yuan (Smart) |
RWD Long Range | 196 kW / 390 Nm | 71 kWh / 586 km NEDC | 229,900 yuan (standard) |
RWD Super Long Range | 196 kW / 390 Nm | > 80 kWh / 706 km NEDC | 254,900 yuan (standard) |
AWD high performance | 120 + 196 kW / 655 Nm | > 80 kWh / 562 km NEDC | 339,900 yuan (Smart) |
In Norway only two variants are offered, namely RWD Super Long Range and AWD High Performance. The prices for the Xpeng P7 According to the Xpeng website, they should start at around 440,000 kroner, which corresponds to around 42,000 euros.
One of the special technical features of the P7 is the semi-autonomous driving system Xpilot 3.0, with which autonomous driving at level 3 should be possible. Another technical highlight is that the car is automatically unlocked using facial recognition or a fingerprint sensor. The P7 is also available in a Wing Edition with wing doors:

Xpeng P5: competitor of the Tesla Model S.
The third Xpeng model will be the P5, which was introduced in April. At 4.80 meters, it is only eight centimeters shorter than the P7. The sedan is always powered by a 155 kW electric motor on the rear axle; All-wheel drive is not offered here.

There are three battery versions in China, named after the range (kilometers in the Chinese NEDC cycle): 460, 550 and 600. Deliveries in China are expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2021.
Traveler X2: flying car or quadrocopter?
The Traveler X2 from Xpeng presented as a "5th Generation Flying Car", that is, as a flying car. In reality, however, according to the pictures, it is a quadrocopter with runners. The aircraft was developed by the Xpeng subsidiary HT Aero. The new version has radar and lidar sensors as well as an autopilot function with automatic obstacle avoidance and a parachute for emergencies.
In the following video, in addition to renderings of the closed two-seater X2, you can also see an open single-seat quadrocopter (possibly an earlier version of the X2, which is apparently already capable of real flight) and also a Voyager X1, another single-seat quadrocopter:
The 4.71 meter long X2 is only 1.36 meters high. The side arms that carry the four twin propellers can be folded back and forth, reducing the width from 4.38 to 1.76 meters. By using carbon, the weight is only 560 kilograms, the maximum take-off weight is 760 kilograms – the payload of the two-seater is 200 kilograms. The cruising speed is 130 km / h and the X2 can fly for 35 minutes at an altitude of 1,000 meters until the batteries are empty.
