Xpeng G3: Is This Chinese Electric SUV Coming To Us As Well?-coming

The Chinese manufacturer Xpeng, founded in 2015, is launching its electric SUV called G3 in Norway. Yesterday, Thursday (February 4th), the second batch arrived in the Scandinavian country by ship, so that a total of around 300 pieces are now (or will soon be) on Norwegian roads..

Xpeng is expanding into Europe and Norway, with its pronounced predilection for electric cars, is the first stop – although it may not be the last. Also the other model from Xpeng, the electric sedan P7, should be launched in Norway in 2021. Let's see if the two cars will also come to us in Germany.

The price for the Xpeng G3 is 358,000 Norwegian kroner, which corresponds to around 35,000 euros. Apparently it is the G3 520 version, because the range is specified as 520 km according to the NEDC standard, and the G3 numbers always stand for the range. According to the WLTP standard, the car should cover 451 kilometers.

Technical data of the G3 520:

  • Drive: 1 electric motor (PSM) at the front with 145 kW (197 PS) and 300 Nm
  • 0-100 km / h / top speed: 8.6 seconds / 170 km / h
  • Battery: 66 kWh
  • Range: 520 km NEDC / 451 km WLTP
  • Charging time: 30 min with direct current (30-80%), 5:30 h with alternating current (0-100%)
  • Dimensions: 4,450 mm length / 1,820 mm width / 1,610 mm height
  • Trunk: 380-780 liters (probably both measured up to window height, roof-high probably more)

According to Xpeng, the feedback in Norway has been positive so far: "The G3s that have already been delivered to Norway have been well received by customers," says the company. The Norwegian G3 will receive their first over-the-air update of the software this month. These include optimized cruise control, an improved Lane Centering Control (LCC), new voice commands and improved adaptive brightness for the touchscreen.

The following video (in English) was published on the Youtube channel Fully Charged Show on the occasion of the first G3 delivered to Norway. The second part is a kind of test. The video was apparently paid for by Xpeng, but it is not a pure advertising film, but gives a good impression of the car:
