Volkswagen Saxony continues to build the public charging infrastructure for electric vehicles on its own locations. This is from a communication of the company. At the end of 2021, exactly 400 charging points for employees, guests and customers are active – an increase of 50 charging points compared to the same period of the previous year. As it is further, 240 accounts for Zwickau, 95 on Dresden and 65 on Chemnitz. For 2022 Volkswagen Sachsen the construction of another 55 charging points at the locations and facilities.
With ID.5, Audi Q4 Sportback E-Tron, Audi Q4 E-Tron and Cupra Born were added four more E models to the production range in the Zwickau plant, says VW Saxony-Chef Stefan Loth. “This also includes an adequate charging infrastructure. We are not just talking about it, but are increasingly active.”Since about 20 percent of all charging operations occurs in the workplace, the commitment of the companies was so important. What Loth lays wide: “All charging columns are fed with electricity, which comes to 100 percent of renewable sources.”He hopes that other companies in Saxony follow this example. “Loading at work is a key to breakthrough of electromobility.”
The most part of 11 kW performance charging points are primarily intended for employees, guests and customers of Volkswagen. A large part will again be created on public parking areas around the locations. For example, the visitor parking is expanded on the glass manufactory in Dresden to 40 charging points – it is one of the largest public charging parks in Saxony. In Dresden, two other public fast load points on the logistics entry come in Dresden.
With the official start of production of the ID.5 Start 2022 is the transformation of the location according to VW Zwickau finally completed after three years. Currently, the Zwickau site is manufactured by enterprise information between 1200 and 1300 E cars.
As part of the Planning Round 70, the Group decided on the further electrification of its European locations, it continues in the notification. The aim is to become the market leader in e-mobility up to 2025. For the first time, the future investments – primarily in e-mobility and digitization – accounted for at 89 billion euros the largest share (56 percent) to the total investment of 159 billion euros. Volkswagen expects every fourth vehicle sold in 2026 has a battery electric drive – currently there are good five percent.

Serious?
In five years only 25% market share? We already have 30% connector cars this year (17% pure BEV).
I tap 75% – one year earlier. In 2026 burners will be true shopkeepers.
But now I also understand why VW shows in the small and small car sector as leisurely. They believe the market does not ask them. But there will be a few chairfurzerstrategists soon looking for new jobs.
Charging columns for employees are great. The electricity price would be interesting.
