Tough guy chasing James Bond

Land Rover reveals footage of the new Defender filming the upcoming James Bond film

In a promotional video currently running on YouTube, among others, Land Rover shows the first stunt shots from the new James Bond film, “No Time to Die”.. However, the star of the scenes here is not Daniel Craig, but the latest Defender model from the British manufacturer.

The footage shows the off-road vehicle, which was specially modified for use in the film, roaring over hill and dale, through rivers and swamps, with sometimes spectacular jumps. The stunts in the new action flick are coordinated by Lee Morrisson, along with Oscar winner Chris Corbould. “We were able to push the Defender further than we thought possible,” said Morrisson.

The Defender is presented as a tough guy who can take a beating: the video ends with a failed scene where the car rolls over and then just keeps going despite visible damage. Whether the car is really as tough as the film’s main character will be seen when the first orders are delivered a few weeks after the film’s start.

Legendary name, new car

After all, the new Defender has to prove that it lives up to its legendary name: for decades, the old model was the benchmark in the off-road segment. The angular design was cult, but ultimately fell victim to stricter pedestrian protection regulations. So the off-road vehicle had to reinvent itself.

Two classic cars that will appear in the film also provide a little nostalgia: a Land Rover Series III and a Range Rover Classic. Both models existed in the 70s.

If you fall in love with the new Defender because of the film scenes, you can order it now. The basic model Defender 110 starts at 63,300 francs, but if you want the top model 110 X, which can be seen in the film, you have to pay at least 111,700 francs.
