Founded in 2014, Mullen Technologies, a California-based manufacturer of electric cars and supplier for some OEMs, only announced in the summer of 2020 that it would be bringing an e-SUV onto the road that is just bursting with performance. In November 2021 the Stromer saw the light of day. It was shown for the first time at the LA Auto Show. During the premiere, it was also pointed out that the reservation capacity of 5.000 units to 25.000 units increased. The first customers will receive a “launch” edition with individual equipment options.
The Mullen FIVE is currently available for reservation with a $100 refundable deposit. How long this offer will remain is questionable, because the demand is overwhelmingly high. The vehicle reservations reached on Saturday, 20. November 2021, a new high. David Michery, CEO and Chairman of Mullen Automotive, stated, “I am delighted with the interest shown in the Mullen FIVE. Our booth at the LA Auto Show gets a lot of traffic and the response to the FIVE has been positive. The FIVE is the center of our efforts and our focus.”
The company has not commented on the absolute number of reservations received so far. Just indicated that due to the increased interest, the limit for the total number of FIVE reservations will be increased from 5.000 to 25.000 vehicles will increase. In addition, Jason Putnam, Mullen Automotive’s vice president of marketing, further elaborated, “By setting a reservation limit of 25.000 vehicles we can offer a very special equipment package that will only be available for our first customers.”
The FIVE is built on an EV crossover skateboard platform that offers multiple powertrain configurations and trim levels in a sleek design. The car should accelerate to 100 km/h in just over three seconds, manage a top speed of 220 km/h and be able to cover a range of 500 km with one battery charge from the 100 kWh battery.
