Mitsubishi ASX comes in 2023 as a plug-in hybrid-2023

Mitsubishi is expanding its hybrid range with the compact SUV ASX, which will be available in Germany in spring 2023 as a plug-in hybrid and hybrid. The ASX is thus the third plug-in hybrid model from the brand, in general the ASX with over 380.000 sold one of the most successful models of the traditional Japanese company. As early as 2013, the brand with the three diamonds presented the Outlander, the world’s first plug-in hybrid SUV at the Geneva Motor Show and is therefore considered a global pioneer for vehicles with hybrid drives. The model was the first electrically powered with permanent four-wheel drive and has been sold in Europe over 200.sold 000 times. The Eclipse Cross followed in 2021, an elegant crossover SUV powered by a 2.4 liter petrol engine and two electric motors with a system output of 138 kW (188 hp). In purely electric driving mode, a range of up to 61 kilometers (according to NEDC) is possible thanks to the 13.8 kWh driving battery.

The new ASX is based on the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance CMF-B platform and will be produced in Valladollid, Spain. Allianz is constantly increasing the pace when it comes to electric cars and networked mobility. To this end, the automotive group has now presented a joint timetable up to 2030. In the next five years, 23 billion euros are to flow into the electric offensive of the partners.

The SUV trend in Europe is unbroken, as is the trend towards plug-in hybrids. Mitsubishi has now “combined both trends in one vehicle with the new ASX”, as emphasized Frank Krol, President and CEO of Mitsubishi Motors Europe. We are therefore very happy about the new family member, with whom we want to inspire existing and new customers. The ASX wants to score points above all with its modern design, extensive equipment and highly efficient, economical drive. The quality will be outstanding as always. The model was developed with a focus on the European market and will hit showrooms in Germany from early 2023, as Werner H. Frey, Managing Director of Mitsubishi Motors in Germany explains.
