The US start-up Lucid actually wanted to deliver its luxury e-sedan Air, the brand’s first model, in Europe from the end of 2021. In the USA, the first customers received their vehicles in October. Interested parties from Europe will have to wait a little longer. “Expansion into the European markets will begin later this year. Stay tuned for country-specific delivery information,” the company said on Twitter a few days ago. Customers from Germany should be among the first in Europe to be able to get an Air. Lucid already announced last year that the German market was the focus of its European ambitions.

At least you can already pre-order the Air in this country. The reservation fees are between 300 and 900 euros. However, Lucid has not yet set the vehicle prices for the European market. In the US, the base model before grant and tax is 77 and over.400 dollars (62.300 euros), the top model with a maximum range of up to 832 kilometers and 588 kW (800 hp) costs from 139.000 dollars (122.600 euros). The limited Dream Edition even has 794 kW (1080 hp) and costs 169.000 dollars (149.000 euros).
According to company boss Peter Rawlinson, the Air is currently the most efficient, powerful and fastest-charging electric car. The maximum range of the Air of up to 832 kilometers in the realistic US standard EPA should also be market-leading according to the WLTP standard that applies in Europe. The current leader is the luxury electric sedan Mercedes-Benz EQS with up to 780 WLTP kilometers.
This year, Lucid wants to introduce further model variants of the Air, for example a cheaper basic version with an output of 353 kW (480 hp), a range of up to 654 kilometers and a price of less than 80.000 dollars (70.500 euro). In 2023, Lucid aims to launch its second vehicle model, the luxury SUV Gravity. After that there should also be cheaper models for the mass market, as Lucid boss Rawlinson recently confirmed. The Air should also become cheaper again: in the medium term, Lucid is aiming for a base price of less than 70.000 dollars (61.800 euros) to.
