For the non-contact loading of electric vehicles in the power range up to 22 kW, the Hamburg-based company Intised Infrastructure Solutions (Intis) will supply six taxis and six inductive charging stations for the Cologne city center as part of the Talako project. There is a company announcement. The vehicles come from the Geely subsidiary “London Electric Vehicle Company” (LEVC), whose models are based on the legendary British taxis. According to INTIS, the inductive charging pads in the taxi lane can withstand being driven over by 40-ton trucks. A prototype has been in testing since mid-2020.
As it is said, INTIS wants to collect results from the project and then decide whether a technology proposal for standardization can be submitted to the relevant committees at IEC and ISO. “We are in a good position to be able to set the benchmark for this decision in our own company,” says Managing Director Ralf Effenberger. The background is a parallel development together with scientists from the TU Braunschweig. As part of a field test with a logistics company in Berlin, contactless power transmission of up to 22kW is being tested. The comparison of the results will ultimately decide which technology proposal INTIS will introduce into the standardization.
According to INTIS, it monitors international technological developments in the field of contactless charging of electric vehicles. Charging capacities of up to 50kW for light vehicles and up to several 100kW for buses and trucks are already being developed and are being dealt with in the standardization committees. INTIS is confident that it can also offer its own solutions in these areas.
As it goes on to say, INTIS specializes in the development and sale of integrated solutions for the energy supply of electric vehicles in combination with regenerative sources and storage technology. One of the focal points is contactless, inductive chargers for road vehicles, autonomous shuttles, e-bikes, cargo bikes and e-scooters as well as for industrial and maritime applications. For this, a large number of own test facilities and workshops are available at the site of the former Transrapid Experimental System Emsland (TVE).
