Hennessey, a Texas-based maker of hypercars and high-performance vehicles, is set to launch what is arguably the world’s most expensive electric car in the next decade. Codenamed “Project Deep Space”, this is the first all-electric Hyper-GT with six-wheel drive. It starts at $3 million. The luxurious grand tourer offers space for four adults and four sets of golf clubs plus luggage.

Looking ahead to the high-performance Stromer, the company makes it clear that the interior is based on an innovative, diamond-shaped seating arrangement with the driver in the middle. Two passengers then sit sideways and slightly set back from the driver. The fourth passenger sitting directly behind the driver will take the world’s first VVIP (Very Very Important Person) seat in the car and thus bring the luxury of private jet class into the Hyper-GT world. The 100% redesigned “Project Deep Space” will feature an ultra-lightweight carbon fiber chassis and body panels, as well as dramatic gullwing doors.

“In Project Deep Space we captured the essence of early 20th-century grand tourers. Century fused with an exceptional Hyper GT shape that leaves no doubt as to its capabilities and intentions,” says Nathan Malinick, Hennessey Director of Design. Malinick goes on to say that the design will turn the concept of EV hypercars on its head, while also living the design philosophy of the “art of reduction”.

The electric Hyper GT is manufactured in the state-of-the-art production facility in Sealy, Texas,. For the development and production of the vehicle, technology partners such as Shell Pennzoil and Delta Cosworth will be used in the area of the powertrain. Carlos Maurer, EVP of Sectors & Decarbonization at Shell, is positive about the project: “It is clear that electric vehicles will play an increasingly important role in mobility. The ‘Project Deep Space’ is part of the strategic 10-year product plan of Hennessey. The electric hyper-GT designed for Grand Touring should follow the production of sold-out Venom F5 Coupes – the 1.817 HP strong hypercar-ten fighters of the company.
