Citroën Berlingo and SpaceTourer now only available electrically-electrically

Citroën, part of the Stellantis Group, sees itself as an innovative brand and would like to offer forward-looking mobility solutions. The brand is gradually implementing the electrification of the entire model range. After the already successful electrification of the entire commercial vehicle portfolio and the market launch in different segments, Citroën already offers a wide range of electric vehicles, which is constantly being expanded. From January 2022, the popular family cars Berlingo and SpaceTourer will only be available as electric versions.

The ë-Berlingo and the ë-SpaceTourer are the first Citroën models that are only available as purely electric. As an expert in the high-roof station wagon and van segment, Citroën is converting its offer to a future-oriented type of drive that should enable customers to continue to move around without restrictions and with low operating costs. In addition, to benefit simultaneously from the spaciousness and practicality of these two models. Citroën is therefore making the decision to accelerate electrification for the benefit of customers and the environment. This alignment applies to all European countries and only for new orders. Nevertheless, the combustion engine versions are still available in the commercial vehicle range. This decision is the result of a responsible approach and the will to be an important player in the energy transition.

Charging with up to 100 kW direct current for a range of up to 322 km

This change is made possible by the relevance and versatility of the models on offer. “Citroën’s electrification strategy is based on models that offer greater comfort, lower running costs and reduced environmental impact, while maintaining the quality of space and modularity.”. This distinguishes the Berlingo and the SpaceTourer. The Citroën ë-Berlingo inherits all the characteristics of the Berlingo and adapts to all needs thanks to a spacious interior, modularity and practicality. The ë-Berlingo is available in two lengths, which should offer space for up to seven people. It retains the same generous interior volume, three Isofix child seat attachments in the second row, the multifunctional Modutop headliner and a separately opening rear window. Thanks to its immediately available torque, the electric motor ensures a smooth start. The manufacturer promises that the journey will be smooth, noiseless and without CO2 emissions. The ë-Berlingo‘s 50 kWh lithium-ion battery also offers a WLTP range of up to 285 km, which should allow the majority of daily journeys to be completed without worry. It can be charged to 80 percent in 30 minutes at a public fast charging station with up to 100 kW and fully charged in around five hours at a wall box (standard three-phase 11 kW on-board charger).

The Citroën ë-SpaceTourer is a modern and versatile large-capacity van in which up to nine people can travel. With its three lengths and interior design options, it offers a new, purely electric answer to the possible uses of business people and families. According to the manufacturer, it has a WLTP range of up to 322 km according to WLTP thanks to its 50 kWh battery or 75 kWh battery. It also offers the same uncomplicated charging (charging at a public fast charging station with up to 100 kW) as the ë-Berlingo and all the comforts of driving in electric mode.

  1. Makes me wonder how they deal with it at the mobile home builders Crosscamp, POssl and co. I’ve been waiting for the Campster/Vanster based on the e-Spacetourer for a long time, but so far it hasn’t existed. But for most campers, such a vehicle with a range of “only” 300 km will be a no-go.
