China premium EV Zeekr 001 is set to debut in Europe in 2023-debut

More and more e-car manufacturers from China are entering the European market. According to media reports, the Chinese group Geely will join Nio, Xpeng and Co from the beginning of 2023 with its electronic brand Zeekr with its 001 electric shooting brake, which is a good five meters long. The Zeekr 001 is the brand’s first model and was launched in China last October. By 2025, the Geely brand wants to have a total of seven models on the market.

The Zeekr 001, whose shape is reminiscent of the Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo, is available in China in three versions and two battery sizes (86 kWh and 100 kWh): as a single motor with 200 kW output on the rear axle and a range of up to 712 kilometers according to NEDC -Measurement; and in two versions as a dual motor, each with 400 all-wheel drive kW and up to 526 or. 606 km range. The two all-wheel drive models should sprint to 100 km/h in less than four seconds. The torque should be a maximum of 768 Nm.

With fast charging, the 001 can recharge for a good 120 kilometers in just five minutes. It should go from ten to 80 percent capacity in just over 30 minutes. The prices in China are between a good 39.000 and 50.000 euros.

The Geely Group, owner of well-known brands such as Volvo, Polestar and Lotus and a major shareholder in Daimler with a share of almost ten percent, wants to locate the new Zeekr brand in the premium segment. Technically, the Zeekr models access Geely’s Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA) electric car architecture, which has already been presented. It is considered to be particularly versatile and flexible and should be able to serve as a substructure for small and small cars, medium-sized and large as well as luxury and particularly sporty models. There are also variants for electric commercial vehicles between 3.5 and 5.5 tons, including e-buses for up to twelve passengers and pickup trucks.

The Zeekr 001 is the first electric car on the SEA platform. A number of other models are to follow soon – including the compact SUV from Smart.

  1. Even if I’m probably not a target customer … positive from an outside perspective:

    • no SUV
    • little aggressive
    • flowing forms
    • clear ranges
    • EU price remains to be seen!

–> The main thing is purely electric 😛

  2. It’s frightening what sensible cars from China or Asia in general are coming our way. Almost as frightening is what the Europeans are offering. Especially the Germans. Premium manufacturers are literally knocked out. Who voluntarily pays 50% more to get a not nearly as innovative car? The Asians are much cheaper (not cheaper) and the profit margin is still much higher. If that’s not an argument for success.
I’m curious which dinosaurs will still be there in 5 years..
I really don’t care. The main thing is electric.

  3. Wow! There is no such thing as taste! argue… but I think the car is fantastically beautiful. Kind of copied, but what the heck.
Unfortunately, it is almost certain that the car will not be offered by us for the prices quoted. And, I might be wrong here, before you can buy a Chinese car without getting gray hair, it will be another five or more years. The Japanese and Koreans have shown how it’s done. Toyota, Subaru, Hyundai/Kia et al. have been building great cars for a long time, but the Chinese will still need a while.
Either way, I won’t experience it again. Pity.
