Chevrolet E-SUVs Equinox and Blazer from 26.450 € already in 2023

General Motors continues to provide electricity. As early as 2023, the segment of compact and medium-sized SUVs is to be further expanded on the US market. For this purpose, GM wants to put corresponding electric vehicles on the road with the two SUVs Equinox and Blazer. For this purpose, existing platforms are used, at least in part.

Only a few details about the planned new electric vehicles have been released. The Equinox EV will be built on GM’s Ultium platform and will hit the road as both a fleet and consumer vehicle. The starting price in the USA is around 30.000 dollars, which is the equivalent of around 26.450 euros are. Both e-SUVs should be on the road as early as 2023.

“The Equinox has always played an important role for Chevrolet as it is the second best selling brand,” Chevrolet Vice President Steve Hill said in the announcement. “By providing an affordable electric option in the industry’s highest volume segment, Chevy is committed to making electric cars accessible to everyone,” Hill concluded in his statement.

The Equinox is expected to be built on the second generation of the Ultium platform. With this, the manufacturer is striving to significantly improve the range and reduce battery costs. Which, among other things, provides the basis for a competitive market price. The following is sometimes known for the first generation of the platform: “The possible configurations range from 50 to 200 kWh battery capacity. GM wants to enable ranges of up to 650 kilometers. The self-developed engines can be designed as front, rear or all-wheel drive and should accelerate future GM electric vehicles to 100 km/h in a good three seconds. Electric cars with Ultium batteries can be quickly charged with up to 200 kW if they are designed as a 400 volt system. For large SUVs and pick-ups, GM is planning an 800-volt system with which the batteries can be charged with up to 350 kW.”
