The E-Class from Mercedes-Benz is particularly popular in Germany as a sedan and, of course, as a station wagon – not least among business customers.

They not only appreciate the space available, but above all the driving comfort of the star. But even the busiest businessman enjoys his free time from time to time; In this respect, it makes sense that Mercedes also offers the E-Class as a coupe and cabriolet – as particularly emotional representatives of the luxury class model family, as Mercedes-Benz writes in a press release. After the refreshment of the E-Class sedan and station wagon, the two-door models are now also being revised. The front and rear have been drawn slightly sharper, the full LED headlights are now a little flatter. Otherwise, not much is happening in terms of optics – all the more so in terms of technology. From autumn 2020, the two-door models will receive the latest generation of the “MBUX” infotainment system as part of the facelift. It offers numerous online functions and intelligent voice input, which significantly simplifies operation while driving. The second major topic of the revision, in addition to the digitization of the E-Class, is efficiency. The coupe and convertible also want to become more economical. All petrol engines (197 to 367 hp) have a 48-volt electrical system and an integrated starter generator. The vehicle can roll with the engine switched off, recover braking energy and “boost” torque from the on-board electrical system with 150 to 250 Nm (depending on the version). A 265-hp four-cylinder diesel will also follow later, also with 48-volt technology. This makes it the most powerful four-cylinder diesel on the market – and thanks to exhaust gas cleaning with two SCR catalytic converters, NOX storage catalytic converter and particle filter, it is also one of the cleanest. The AMG 53 versions with an in-line six-cylinder biturbo engine and 435 hp remain the sporty top models. Again, a mild hybrid system delivers an additional 22 hp when needed. The prices for the facelift models have not yet been determined. The coupe currently starts at 62,800 francs.
