Compared to the "normal"-Yaris, the hybrid offers a little less wind resistance.
The Yaris premieres at the Geneva Motor Show. It only uses 3.5 liters of gasoline. Another highlight: the trunk is not reduced by the batteries.
M.ith a starting price of 16,950 euros, the new Toyota Yaris Hybrid will be by far the cheapest hybrid car on the German market . The small car celebrates its premiere at the Geneva Motor Show (March 8th to 18th), it will be available from dealers from June 16th.
The hybrid system of the approximately 3.90 meter long five-seater comes from the hybrid pioneer Prius, but has been adapted for the smaller vehicle class. Instead of the 1.8-liter petrol engine previously used, a 1.5-liter engine is used in combination with a continuously variable automatic transmission.
In combination with the electric motor, a system output of 74 kW / 100 PS is available. The EU consumption should be 3.5 liters per 100 kilometers.
The CO2 emissions are only 79 grams per kilometer and thus undercut the diesel. When the battery is charged, operation in pure electric mode is also possible over a short distance.
Nickel-metal hydride batteries, which are stowed under the rear seat bench and should not affect the trunk volume, serve as power storage. The most economical Yaris is externally recognizable by its aerodynamically optimized front and a brand logo with a blue background on the bonnet.
The Yaris Hybrid is available in three equipment variants: Yaris Hybrid, Hybrid Life (from 17,900 euros) and Hybrid Club (from 19,200 euros). In terms of price, the hybrid Yaris is just above the EUR 16,330 diesel model (consumption 3.9 liters). Compared to its main competitor, the Honda Jazz Hybrid, the new one is almost 2000 euros cheaper.
